For sale is Dominate with the Slav Defense, Chebanenko Variation — GM Leonid Kritz — Empire Chess DVD Vol. 1 — Like NewThe Slav Defense is one of the most respected and thoroughly tested openings at every level of chess, trusted by world champions and club players alike for its rock-solid foundation against 1.d4. But within the Slav there is a particularly clever and flexible weapon that has been causing White players headaches for decades — the Chebanenko Variation, also known as the Chameleon, featuring the early 4...a6. It looks modest at first glance but contains real venom, and this two-hour DVD by GM Leonid Kritz is one of the best introductions to it available. The idea behind 4...a6 is to keep White guessing. Black prepares an early ...b5 advance, either before or after capturing on c4, creating an asymmetrical and dynamic structure that doesn't fit neatly into White's standard plans. Top players including Gata Kamsky, Etienne Bacrot, and Kritz himself have used this system with great success at the grandmaster level, and the line has been a regular guest at World Championship and Candidates matches.Kritz structures the DVD intelligently — the first section deals with the sidelines White can try that are frequently played but not particularly dangerous, making sure Black knows the right ideas without getting bogged down in heavy theory. The second section tackles the real tests: the critical 5.c5 and 5.e3 lines, which are the most challenging responses and require more precise handling. Kritz is refreshingly honest that these lines need careful study, and he recommends watching those sections more than once to absorb all the subtleties.Kritz was a Youth World Champion under 16 in 1999 and became a grandmaster at just 19 years old. He represented Germany at the Chess Olympiad and has played this variation extensively at the highest level — his commentary carries the weight of real practical experience, not just board analysis.Condition: Like New — DVD in original case, clean and unmarked.
